NEW WORLD RECORDS SET IN HORIZONTAL WELL DRILLED WITH ULTRA SHORT RADIUS DRILLING (USR) TECHNOLOGY

Perenco Gabon SA. well OLD-10ST USR has set new world records for the longest USR horizontal section length of 430m and the largest reach-to-radius ratio of 32:1 for a horizontal well. The well was drilled in a particularly cost-competitive environment, using a small-footprint, trailer-mounted service rig. Initial production results are very encouraging and full benefits are expected from long-term behavior of horizontal drains in a reservoir with low-mobility oil and a strong aquifer drive.
